Abraison Tester Quicktest CWZ 302

The trend towards compacting mixed feeds continues to grow. The QUICKTEST CWZ 302 helps you to test your specimen's abrasion within just 10 seconds, thus determining the pellet hardness.

In agricultural operations, the quality requirements for pellet feeds are tough. If the pellets are not sufficiently hard, the abrasion that occurs causes clogging in the silo and potentially also heating. Contamination of the feed systems can occur that can lead to acceptance difficulties and even refusals of the feed. For mixed feed manufacturers, this often means expensive complaints, which ultimately affect cost-effectiveness in production.

Some certification regulations also require test equipment, which includes abrasion as a quality-impacting property. Our QUICKTEST CWZ 302 abrasion tester gives you meaningful results within the shortest possible time.

The principle:
The specimen is weighed, filled into a chamber and exposed to mechanical load in a targeted way by means a rotor with a crank disk. An electronically controlled brake motor controls the abrasion times with to-a-second precision.

The preselected test time is triggered with the ON-button. The motor switches off automatically after the test time has elapsed – typically after 10 seconds. Opening the discharge flap causes the test material to fall into a screen container. The automated test screen separates the abrasion from the specimen and weighs the specimen. The difference between the intake and output weight is equivalent to the abrasion value.

Measured values:
The objective was to test 500 grams of the specimen for a running time of 10 seconds. As a basic template for the mixed feed quality, the following statements on the abrasion values can be assumed:
< 3% good
3-5% adequate
> 5% poor

This classification can be viewed as a guide value; the respective standards need to be defined individually. The QUICKTEST CWZ 302 achieves representative values as the test operation simulates the exposure of the compressed feed through transport and dosing actions.
